Painting A Gun Stock by Shane Hurkmans

First of you have to prep the stock to take paint. This stock is a synthetic for a Savage model 10. What I do is take a 100 grit or smaller to the surface of the stock. Then I take paint thinner to clean all the dust made from the sanding.

For this paint job I used a Krylon special purpose paint kit in camouflage. This system comes with everything you need to paint a stock camo. With the stock prepped, hang it somewhere you can paint. (Not in the house, wife will kill you)

I chose tan for my base layer and worked to the black for the last layer. You can see how I painted the stock from the pictures. I have them in order so you can see what I did. The kit came with a stencil so you can use the old camo patterns or leaves and limbs.
